I bought a car from Town North Mazda on March 20 and purchased a GAP policy with the car. I almost immediately refinanced the car because I found a much better interest rate, so I wanted to cancel the GAP policy since it doesn't carry over when you refinance. My paperwork said I could cancel the policy within 30 days, so I contacted Old United Casualy Company, the insurance company that was supposed to provide the policy, two weeks after buying the car (and policy) to cancel. I was informed that the dealership never notified them that I bought a GAP policy. I called the dealership and was told that if I came into the dealership and signed a cancellation form, they would send the purchase notice and the cancellation form at the same time so I could get my refund. I went to the dealership on April 3 and signed the form and was told it would take 8-10 weeks to get the refund. After 13 weeks I still had not recieved it, so I called Old United back and was told that they still had never recieved notice that I had purchased a policy, much less cancelled one. I called the dealership and was told that the original person that I dealt with no longer worked there and he had never sent the forms into Old United, but that they would do it immediately and that I could expect the refund from Old United the first or second week of August (another 5-6 weeks.) It is now August 31 and I have not received a refund, so I called Old United back and they said that they had finally recieved notice that I had purchased and cancelled a policy, but that they are not the ones who cut the refund checks - the refund has to come from the dealership. I tried to call the dealership back AGAIN, but now I can't get in contact with anyone. It has not been 5 months since I originally cancelled the policy, and I still have no refund and no answer about when I will get one. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service! You can be sure I will never go to this dealership again, and neither should anyone else.
