I purchased a 2004 Mazda 3S from Diablo Mazda in Walnut Creek. The car only had 7000 miles at the time and I also purchased an extended warranty called Mazda Extended Protection Plan (Totalcare), which was an additional $1,666.00, This extended warranty was supposed to cover bumper to bumper up to 100,000 miles. I was never given a pamphlet or a policy to view at the time of purchase. The policy came in the mail two weeks later. I feel that there should be a law against dealership to sell you a policy without you knowing what that policy is covering.
My son was driving his car in the rain last Friday. The car had 52,000 miles on it. He went through an underpass that had less than one foot of water. The car died. 911 was called and the car was towed to Mazda dealership. Mazda denied our claim and said that water is an exclusion of the policy.
The service representative said that this is a normal occurrence with this type of vehicle. I contacted five other Mazda dealership and asked the service representatives as to my situation and they all said that Mazdas engine can not be contacted with water as they would come to complete stop and you are looking at complete engine replacement ($9,500.00 parts and labor).
This is pure horsesh*. This tells me that they have an inferior product and all the consumer needs is a good attorney and a class action lawsuit. There is no mention of staying away from water or not driving in the rain in the owners manual.in California this is called negligence and failure to disclose. Any good lawyer out there wants to make these pigs pay?
