Bill Heard Chevrolet
This company has false advertisement. When arriving at the dealership, they misrepresented and gave us false information on the price we were going to be financed

My husband and I received a mailout from Bill Heard Chevrolet in Collierville. The mailout stated they were in need of used vehicles and would give us up to 8,000 dollars over the Kelley Blue Book Value. My husband and I know how dealerships work but there was no fine print on the voucher. We decided to just check it out and see if it was legitimate.

Around 2:30pm on January 4 we went to Bill Heard Chevrolet in Collierville, TN. A salesman greeted us as usual and we sat down at a table on the showroom floor. We gave another guy our voucher and he gave us 10 one dollar coins for coming in. We then test drove a 2007 Impala. The sticker price was $21,000.

We went inside and sat down with a salesman and proceeded on with the paperwork. We specifically told the salesman if we could not get the price of the car and my trade-in value to around $22,000 we would not be able to do the deal. He said that would not be a problem.

We gave the salesman our keys to my 1999 Expedition. (We owe $12,000 for the Expedition). They did an appraisal on my truck and came back with some numbers as usual. They said they were not going to be able to put us in a 2007 Impala because they do not have any rebates on them yet. The salesman said he could put us in a 2006 Impala because it had a lot of rebates.

We looked at the 2006 Impala and agreed if the price was right we would have a deal. Now the 2006 Impala had 4600 miles on it and they were selling it as a new vehicle for $23,000. That is $2,000 more dollars than the 2007! So by this time we were a little concerned. The salesman then came back with the figures. He said they would give us $8,000 for my Expediton and they would sell us the 2006 Impala to us for $23,000.

Then he said the difference in the trade-in and the new car would be $15,000. Then we have to figure in the difference of the trade-in and what we owe - which is a $4,000 difference. So we have to add that $4,000 into the $15,000 which is $19,000. Plus taxes, fees, etc. So my husband and I were told we would be financing approximately $21,000-$23,000. We agreed to proceed with the deal.

Around 5:00pm we were called back to the finance office to discuss the terms. The finance guy was extremely nice and proceeded to tell us the terms. The terms were financing $28,000 at a 14% interest rate for $650.00 a month. We did not even get to how many months that was because we stopped the guy when he said $28,000! We explained to the finance guy that we were not told we would be financing $28,000! He said "the salesman did not show you this sheet"? The sheet said $28,000! We said no he told us it would be around $21,000! He said, "did you speak with the manager"? We said no just the salesman.

He told us to give him a minute and he would make the deal work. He walked out to get the manager and to call back the finance company. The manager then walks in, sits down, and tells us the deal the salesman was telling us was the $8,000 was all of the rebates and our trade-in, the $15,000 was the difference in the price of the car and all of the rebates but then we have to figure in the $12,000 we owe on our Expedtion! So that number comes up to approximately $28,000!

I told him that is not how it was explained to us and could we just get our keys because that was not the deal and we were not going to pay that! He just sat there and got EXTREMELY rude with us! We told him if we had known that in the beginning we would not have wasted our time or theirs. He then told us, "I am sorry that you cannot understand basic math"! I told him no I did not understand Bill Heard's math and just to give us our keys. He still sat there and we walked out of the finance office trying to find our keys!

I was extremely upset because we could not find our keys and I told him to "take that Impala and park it back on his lot and let some other dummy buy it because we were not going to since the deal was not legit and I told him to just give us our keys back". My husband and I were walking all around the dealership trying to find our keys. He came up behind us and told us "we did not need to be yelling in his dealership". He then told me to have a good day and I walked out.

My husband was still in the dealership trying to get our keys. He handed my husband the keys and said, "you called me a liar and you don't understand basic math". Now we never called him a liar. All we said was that was not the deal we were explained by the salesman. They never even gave us the deal for the voucher because they were only giving us $4,000 for our Expedition. The $8,000 came from the rebates and the $4,000. So we did not understand why they were adding in the whole $12,000 we owe. So therefore he said we were calling him a liar.

This dealership needs to be investigated for fraud, false advertisement, and just plain horrible customer service. Before we ever walked into the finance office, another lady was waiting to meet with them. She walked into the office and about 1 minute later she walked out and said "they are going to give me a heart-attack"! Then she left with a quickness.

We would really appreciate your attention to this dealership. We do not want to see anyone waste their time going to this dealership. They are misleading from even before you walk into the door and even after you leave.
