My husband & i were in the process of looking for a suv due to us having 4 children we needed a larger vehicle. I saw a 98 expedition for $5,995.00 on the autotrader so i called the dealership & spoke to them about the vehicle & that we were interested in coming & seeing it. I spoke to one salesman on september 18 & verified the amount & asked the condition of the vehicle the salesman took my husbands & my information for a credit check.
On september 19 i called the dealership & was questioning wether we were able to be financed due to our poor credit & left a message. Later on that day a salesman called me back & said that we were pre-approved i then told him what vechicle we were interested in because he was not the same salesman i talked to the day before & if we were able to come out pick it up & take it home for a couple of days so we can check it out because my husband is a mechanic. The salesman then said hold on i will ask then returned to the phone moments later & said no problem. My husband being a mechanic did not get off of work until 6:00 so i called him & told him that we were going to go pick up the vehicle & look at it. We ended up at the dealership around 6:45 & i walked in & said that i was there to pick up a vehicle to take home & i spoke to the salesman that i talked to earlier that day who stated that we can take the truck home.
We all of a sudden were put in a office having paperwork shuved in our face while our 4 children were patiently waiting at that time waiting. I told the salesman i was not here to do paperwork that we have not even looked at the vehicle & i was just going to pick up the truck so i can take home & have my husband look over. The salesman was real reluctant to give us the key to even look at the truck & trying to get our paystubs & other information while our 4 children were getting real antsy.
Finally around 9:30p. M the salesman handed the keys over & let my husband test drive it. While he was test driving the truck the salesman told me that we could not take the vehicle home after our earlier conversation of being told that we could & after sitting there for almost 3 hours when my kids had to goto school the next day they pulled this crap on me & not to mention we lived an hour away.
We finally got the vehicle released to us after pulling arms & putting up a fuss about the earlier conversation of which we were told we could take the truck home. Not to mention the salesman was real cocky & disrespectful towards me & my family. On saturday september 22 we took the truck back stating that we wanted it & when would the finance person call me to do the interview. The salesman then told me that monday he would call. I then received a call & did a real short interview to get financed with ameristar financing. The salesman called me back & said we got approved & if we could come in that night.
Again monday night september 24 we dragged all 4 of our children out plus my mother & father came to make sure i did not get screwed on the deal. We showed up at 7:15 & we ended up sitting there until 9:00 until before we even spoke to the finance person in the meantime the salesman took my $500.00 deposit & tried to get me to sign a financial agreement to which i refussed because i had not seen any numbers at that time.
My husband, father & i finally spoke to the finance person & the numbers did not add up somehow there was a addtional $2,000-3,000 added on to the asking price (the asking price was $5995.00 & somehow they took it up to $10,537.00) that no one would explain to us of how they got. The finance guy got up walked out & said i am not dealing with them anymore more - so another finance guy came in trying to say the same mumbo jumbo while we were trying to figure out the reality of numbers not trying to figure out there played with numbers & he got mad & said you either want it or not & we at that time said we were going to go outside & talk about it.
The funny thing is that this whole time my husband & i are the customers & these people were treating us like pure crap & that we were nothing. My husband & i returned in side to where we met with another finance person & by this time we were real fed up with everyone contradicting themselves on how they got to the price of the a $4,000 difference from the asking price. The third finance guy had offered to possibly help us & when he actually looked at the numbers even he said something was not right.
He left & came back with the same poor disrespectful attitude everyone else had towards us & said we cannot do anything for you that it is what it is & that the price on the internet must be wrong (not!!!) they just wanted to jack us due to our bad credit thinking that we would walk away with it because no one else would finance us - wrong we were not that stupid!
Again that night we had our kids out there for 3 hours. M just forewarning people that they are not honest people & the stress that they put my family through especially my kids with making them sit out there for hours for bullcrap was very rude & disrespectful & the way they treated us i have never been treated like that before & that was wrong — plus they use a finance service called ameristar finance & you really should look that up on this site to get the true facts about them -luckily we had the smarts to walk away & now that i researched ameristar finance i am so glad that i walked away.
