I puchased a car from alocal dealer ship in my hometown, Bessemer, Alabama. The owner told me he could get me approved with Heritage Founding Group for the car. This came about after the fact that the car he sold me gave me problems coming off the lot. I had a bad feeling about the deal when I came in to finsh up the paper work and was told my first pay ment was due 2 weeks later after singing the papers. I got home and looked at the dates on the paper work and call OPP Auto Sales to get an understanding of why the papers was not dated for the date I sign. I was told that the deal had gone through 2 weeks even though the car was not in my possesion. So what he was tellingme was when I toldhim I wanted to get the car he started paper work with Heritage Funding Group and and my time started from ther and when I completedthe paper work. Heritage Funding Group disagreed to helpme in any way they wanted there money and that was the bottom line.
The price on the car has change 3 times. I needed a car to get to work, so I told my self that I would pay this car off and never deal with these people again.
I started making my payments and months went by I got a letter saying that my account was past due from Heritage Funding Group of $346.61 plus $58.32 in late fees. I call the office to get a understanding. Now the letter was dated 08/24/05. I was told that the past due amount and late fees came from a check that was returned on 11 but I paid by money order a few days later. Then I was told it was for a secound check that was returned 6 that I also paid by money order. They just couldn't explain to me how these charges came about and why did they wait so long to contact me about it. After that I got another letter dated 09/13 sayiny I was $146.61 past due plus $71.28 in late fees.
This time I called I called and I told that even thoug I made up the payments since they were not made on time it was like i did make the payment and that adds late fees, what ever that means. I told them that I woul get all my receipts together and call them back. A fews days later I called back and told them I had all my receipts but they did not want to see them. I knew I did not owe this money so I continued making my payment. I get another letter saying I was $146.61 past due and $84.24 in late fees days later my car was repossesed out of yard I thought some one had stolen the car. I call the office and they told me that to get the car back I would have to pay the remaining balance of $3755.19 plus $440.00 towing and I had 10 days to do so.
I tried talking to them to get a understnding and bringing to there attention that I was making payments and had every attention to pay the car off as i had agreed. They did not want talk to me at this point and told me I would be taken to court for the remaing balance.
