My wife and I had rented an SUV to go camping for a week. After a great trip I was horror struck when I saw smoke billowing from under the hood. I pulled into Purrfect auto and they diagnosed just what I feared, I'd blown a Gasket. This was on Monday. He (Steve the Manager) told me my car would be ready by Friday
Well, Friday rolls around and Steve says they are having a problem getting the Gasket (apparantly it's on back order) and the car wont be ready until tuesday. Fine, I can wait 'till Tuesday.
I call Steve on Tuesday and he says the Head gasket is blown. I can understand, that happens. The car is going to take another week; so once again next Tuesday.
Next Tuesday (week 2 without a car) I call and Steve is telling me that the ENGINE is toast! I can't believe it. I wouldn't have thought the car was that bad. He quoted me $800 for a rebuilt engine. So I said go for it. A few days later My wife goes down to make a payment ($400) and get the baby's stroller from the trunk (did I mention my wife's pregnant again and due in a month at this point?). Steve said they had to tow the car to get the engine's number to find a match.
Next tuesday I call again very hopeful my car is finally fixed. Now I can't believe what steve is saying! He couldn't install the engine because there was a Federal Guideline against it. He didn't have the right engine available and didn't know when he'd get it. But he would look.
Now I begin to make some calls and find some other place to fix the car. I call Steve that Monday and he pronounces a God Send. He recieved the engine that I needed and my car would be ready tomorrow - Tuesday!
I call tuesday and a new voice answers. I ask about my car and he says I need a new HEAD GASKET!!! I ask to speak with Steve but apparantly Steve isn't there anymore. He was fired.
Steve was a druggie who was stealing from everyone who took the car there.
I found out that my car was never worked on. Not only that, they had stolen everything in it! Steve had pocketed the money we gave him and never put it in the records. He also put our car in under 2 names. Ours and God knows who. Our information just had the make and Model, the other persons had the full car information.
So after being lied to for over a month and vigorously violated the new manager treats me like I just walked in the door and quotes me $800 - $900 for a new head gasket. I called the Owner and he said he would compensate me fairly. I want to see what he thinks is fair.
