Williams Chevrolet
Ripoff dishonest, deceiving, manipulative, rude and corrupt

We went to Williams to look at some trucks because GMAC was offering a pull ahead on our lease. We found one we liked and decided to see what the payments would be. We went there the following night and they had the wrong truck which we told them right off the bat. I requested to have a price range on that truck and the one we wanted and they had us stay there to see if we qualified. Five hours later they said we were approved and they had the paperwok ready for us to sign without giving my wife and I a chance to discuss anything. They had to roll the remaining payments from my truck over to the new truck. My truck was in my name and they rolled it over to the new truck which was in my wifes name. They told us to take the new truck home being that it would force GMAC to approve my wife. They also said that if the payments ended up being lowered they would write a new contract and have us sign it the next day. Well, the payments came back lower and they wrote up a new contract.

They had my wife sign the "dummy" contract which they said would be voided if the payments were lowere than what they guessed it would be.in the meantime my wife and I talked it over and decided something was not right. We did not get the truck we wanted. They did not do a price quote both ways on the two different trucks as we requested. They were pretty cocky after we signed the dummy contract. They made the comment, "They went for it". The following day I called the salesman and he actually answered and he told me that the new contract was wrote up and that he would see us at 5:00 to sign. I told him that we would be there between 5-6:00. He got huffy and asked why we were not going to be there at 5:00. I reminded him that we told him that we had to get the triler hitch off my truck before we could get there. He made a rude sigh and asked, "Well, how long is that going to take?!" I told him that I didn't know, and that however long it takes to get it off is when we will be there. He then stated, "Well, get here as soon as you can". I was real ticked at this point. I called him back several times and left several messages for them to call me and they never returned my calls. Before we signed they promptly returned my calls but after we signed, calls were left unanswered. (Huh)

I was fuming so I left a message and said we were bringing the truck back and that we didn't want it. Within 5 minutes they called and couldn't figure out why we changed our mind. I told them what I thought of their stinking attitude and rude behavior. The loan officer ended up calling me a while later and said that he had the paperwork ready and wanted to know when we were coming in and I told him also that I wasn't coming in to sign. He said, "What?" I told him that I changed my mind and that his salesman was rude and that I wasn't happy at all. The loan officer then got mad and told me, "You bring your truck in right now!" I told him no. I am not bringing in nothing and that he could take the new truck and shove it. He said, "Well, you will have 2 truck payments then! I don't need your signatures on the new contract anyways. I will send in the "dummy" (for the lack of a better word) contract and you will have higher payments and set at a higher interest rate!" I told him that I had three days to decide if I want the truck or not. He then told me that I was wrong and that he had several other people try to get out of the contract and that he was going to send the contract over and that I would have two truck payments and that there was no way I was going to get out of the deal and I told him to do whatever he wants and I hung up on him.

The following day I went to another dealership, Bill Marsh, here in Traverse City and applied for a loan. I explained to them what had transpired at Williams. They asked me several questions like, "Did Williams give you a copy of the document you signed?" and I told them no. I was told that Williams just got into trouble for not doing so. The following day Bill Marsh went to the expense of having their lawyer, loan officers, the owner of Bill Marsh, a GMAC rep, etc. Look at the contract that Williams had wrote up and found several things that Williams done that were illegal. Under these circumstances GMAC allowed Bill Marsh to take control of the loan instead of Williams. Bill Marsh contacted us and informed us that they would be able to do our loan instead of Williams. Well, the loan officer at Williams called me and was very nice, couteous, polite, which a few hours earlier was being a snotty, idiotic jerk! I was confused at this point. He told me that he done everything just for us and that GMAC was calling him off the hook and blah, blah, blah. I hung up on him. I knew something was going on. A little while later Bill Marsh called me again and asked me, "Where is your trade in at?" I told her that I was looking at it. She told me that GMAC called her and said that Williams claimed that they had my truck and that I had the new truck. I told her that I dropped the new truck off the day before and that I was working on my truck as we spoke and I told her that I would bring it down and show her that my truck was with me and not at Williams. She said please bring it and we did. She took digital pictures of it and sent them to GMAC. The people at Bill Marsh could not believe that Williams would go to such an extreme extent that they would lie to GMAC which is one of the best financing companies that we ever dealt with.
What Williams done was not only unlawful but it was what I consider to be fraudulent and under false pretenses just to get the sale.

Last night the rep for GMAC went to Williams and made sure they ripped the contract up while he was present.
Williams thought that they were bigger than me, maybe having more money they are but when you fight back against a big company, with the help of people like those at Bill Marsh, you can win and defeat corruption that exists at Williams... From the top to the bottom. Stand up and fight and don't let big corporation bully you around! Maybe there are still some honest people who think that integrity still stands for something like those at Bill Marsh.
