Cancun's Mexican Restaurant
Serves food that is labled beef but is really pork! Beware

My friend and I went to Cancun's Mexican Restaurant in Destin, Florida this weekend and I ordered the beef fajitas (which are way over priced anyway). We not only waited forever to order and be seated, but the service was horrible. When the fajitas came, I noticed that they looked funny and even smelled funny, not like fajitas should smell, but I decided to eat anyway being starved during our wait. I started eating the fajitas, and noticed that they were pork and not beef. Being Muslim, I cannot eat pork and was horrified!

I waited and waited for our waiter to even notice me wanting to talk to him. Finally, I told him that it was pork and not beef and I could not have it, and he only said that we do not put pork in fajitas its beef and then walked off. I waited and waited for the waiter again not touching any of it, and said I would like a manager's name and number so I could call and let them know. He walked off and another guy came telling me that I could call this lady and gave me the name and number. I then expected fully that I would not have to pay for any of it, because I couldn't eat it. I did eat some of it before I knew it was pork, but was surprised when I had to pay even for the drink.

Well, I was fully going to pay and just take my sample of the meat with me to give to the public health dept. For inspection (being a public health scientist myself with my friend as a dietician identifying it as pork as well). We were made to wait at least 10 minutes to pay our bill at the counter, and finally when they came over, our waiter came and said he was sorry but there was a guy that did not know what he was doing in the back and might have put pork but still wanted me to pay! The other guy (manager) then gave me the phone to the store and the owner I guess was on the phone and proceeded to tell me what I had was not pork and they do not have pork on the menu or even serve it, then changing her mind when I mentioned pork on the menu. I told her I was taking it to the public health dept. As well as the BBB. She said I could do that, and that I had to pay for my food as I had eaten it all. She was not even there!

One of the guys told her that I had eaten it all and just did not want to pay. She was very rude when I told her that one of the employees had told me it was their mistake from which he denied when she asked the guy on the phone had he said it or not (after demanding that I put him on the phone!). She or none of the staff were nice, other people sitting in the restaurant identified it as pork, so I had a local chef and hospital identify the food as pork! They were very rude to me and still demanded I pay after an ordeal as embarrasing as this. They refused me a receipt, and refused a to-go box to put the food in! A lawyer has been contacted for this as rights to eat the food you buy as advertised were violated along with numerous other violations to consumer rights.

Just wanted to take the time to warn people not to eat in the restaurant as it is horrible food and not what you order, very poor service and ownership, and way over-priced for the food and atmosphere. SAVE your money and eat at or some other place, even fast food over this! Had they just apologized and didn't charge me or re-did the fajitas, or even been nice, I would have never thought twice about it, but not being able to have pork, I thought it an atrocity I was served it, and then treated horrible about identifying it as pork, and then made to pay by owner and manager! Hope the public health dept. Stays on them, sure they won't have any problems doing so.
