Bank of America declined my credit card with a credit line of $ 5,500 when I tried to use it to pay a contractor. The contractor spent about half an hour talking to them over his cell phone then he let me talk to them: they would not tell me why. Finally I had to use my Bank One Credit Card.
The next day I went to the bank and they would not be able to tell me either. They had to call a special department which explained that the reason was that I had used the card previously for an Internet order. This raised red flags because I live in Arizona and I had ordered toner for $ 30 from New York. What made things worse in my case was that I had also used my credit card on a trip from Arizona to New Mexico at different gas stations.
Remember: if you use BoA's credit card, don't use it for anything that goes beyond the borders of your hometown otherwise you make yourself suspicious and the next time you won't be able to use the card. I can't believe that this happens in the 3rd millenium, but obviously this is normal for Bank of America.
