On December 8 I made a deposit into my Bank of America checking account using a new ATM machine that scans the checks. I deposited two checks totalling 1900.00 (one check for 200.00 and the other 1700.00). On December 10th both checks cleared my account. On December 19th, I recieved a notice for Bank of America that the check was pulled back out of my account. I immediately went online and discovered both checks were kicked back out of my account, one on the 13th and the other on the 14th.
On December 18th, I spent 4 hours on the phone attempting to find out why the checks were bounced back. I was told by several associates they could not find a reason. After 4 hours I was told I did not sign my checks and therefore they would not accept them eventhough the words "deposit only" were written ont the back of both checks.in ten years of doing business with Bank of America's ATM (the majority of my deposits are ATM) I rarely signed the back of my checks. The first check for 200.00 arrived and it was stamped "insufficient funds", which was not true since the check was never processed. I attempted to deposit the check in the same ATM and it would not accept one of its own checks. The second check never arrived. When I called Bank of America they stated they would reissue the check.
When I checked my account a few days later, they charged me 2.00 for looking up the lost check. I am still waiting for the second check and still unsure where I will be able to get the copied check cashed. I am just lucky I had enough money in my account to avoid excessive late fees.
