I have an account with B of A. I have on several occasions deposited 3 paty checks with no problem. On 7/24/06 I made such a deposit. This valid check was not accepted because the person the check was written to was not on the account so I add the payee to my account. I was told by bank that it is against bank policy to accept 3rd party checks however I have proof that they in fact do accept third party checks. Because they refused the check it caused me to overdraw my account.
The check is for $800.00 to cover $600.00 in bills. Bank of America wants $600.00 and I want to give it to them to pay my bills. B of A also wants $175.00 in NSF fees. Here is where it gets crazy.
The bank verified the check; it is valid and the payee is now on my account. They are holding the check. They refuse to deposit the check into my account and they are holding the check hostage untill I pay them the money. How can I pay them the money if they wont give it to me?
If they would only deposit the check the money that the bank used to pay my bills would be paid back PLUS the fees they are charging me would be paid to them PLUS I would still have about $50.00 left over. They have had this money for one week. I have some fees of my own that B of A should pay to me!!! Plus I think they should be brought up on charges of extortion.
