I received a letter in the mail from a local law firm, offering to represent me. When I researched it further, I discovered that Midland has filed a lawsuit against me. I did not know what it was in regards to, and when I called them today, they told me it was for a charged off account. If the original debtor has charged it off, how can someone else sue you for it? Can anyone give me advice as to what to do? I couldn't afford to pay the debt then, I can't now; I can't afford a lawyer and I can't afford to have my wages garnished. How do these people get away with this?
