DirecTV — no good at all! - DirecTV

My problems started with DirecTV the day I got it hooked up. I was told by the installers that I and another tenant in my building could use each others account numbers for the "refer a friend" offer, even though we were both getting it hooked up the same day.in talking to DirecTV on the phone later I learned, that no, we could not do this, and that neither of us were eligible for the offer anymore because we already had the service. Had I know, I could have used someone elses account number, because I know many poor souls also in DirecTV's net.

Second of all, regardless of the fact that the previous tenant of my apartment already had a DirecTV dish on the roof, they crawled up there and installed another one. They also ignored the cords already ran through the ceiling, and ran another set of cords. They then drilled a bunch of holes in my walls, which they didn't use and ran the cords down next to the ceiling tile, and down the wall, ruining the tile.

The biggest problem I have had is costumer service and loyalty. I have been with them for a little over a year now. I had to sign a two year contract with a total price of $38.99 (for the first 12 months, apparently). My bill recently jumped from that, to $75 a month. After calling customer service and talking to three different people, I was told I could get a $60 credit at $10 a month, fine. I checked the bill online and it did indeed go down about $6 ($10 minus some ridiculous tax I suppose). Now the next bill came, and is $85!! I have no idea why, nor do I have the desire to call them and get the run around. It is $20 a month for every month left in the contract to get out of it. I am seriously considering this, and do not advise anyone to sign up for DirecTV. If you can't find anything cheaper and less risky than being at these crooks mercy, get Netflix. I hate to see what the bill will be up to in the next 10 months.
