I got married and had to put our things in storage until we bought a house. May my husband and I went to our U-Haul Storage locker to see what we had, and where things would go in our newly build home as we are moving in the beginning of July. We opened the locker and it was so disgusting, we couldn't walk in. It was completely infested! The manager wasn't there that day and the worker came to see what I was talking about and said this is not normal. I asked for the best and cleanest location. At the price I paid, I could have rented an apartment! I went back to see the manager and he was blaming this on me that I should have come regularly to dust. I was infuriated! I asked for compensation, he offered me one month. I bought insurance, called them, sent in pictures explained what I saw and got back a letter from U-Haul Claims Department that they have sufficient evidence and refused my claim. The adjuster never came to see the locker. There is no way, I am putting any of my stored things into a newly built home. I can't even walk into the locker. The last time I was there to speak to the manager, i stood outside the locker. When I left and got into my car, there was a huge bug in my purse. I ran in to show the manager and he said it didn't come from here. I told him sarcastically, he's right it came from my car with with the doors and windows shut! I am really surprised with the state of my belongings and that UHaul Claims and U-Haul St Jacques is unwilling to help after the amount of money I paid them plus took out insurance!
