We have been using U-Haul to house our items for over two months.
We are moving in less than one week. It clearly states on the U-Haul website that you can receive a free month storage before or after you move. Our monthly rental fee was due today, so I called to end the pay month, reserve a truck, and keep the storage bin for the free month before we move. This is where the ridiculousness begins...
We can only do this if we take our stuff out of the current bin and move it to another bin that literally could be right... Next... To... The... Current... Bin. When asked why we had to move it, "Store policy." So I say, "Well, this bin becomes available when my leasing ends today, so why can't you just give me the same one?" Their response, "I don't know, it's in the policy. You have to move to another bin."
It cost me $140, a month's storage rental, to re-rent the same storage bin for less than a week! This has to be one of the most ridiculous policies I've ever encountered. When speaking with the main Customer Service, they couldn't give me a reason other than the policy excuse, and kept transferring me all over the company.
U-Haul, I will neeeeeeever use your services again in the future.
