I was on an extended trip and did not get to my mail for a few months. In the meantime, BB&T Bank changed its policy for checking and savings accounts, and a minimum balance of $1500 was needed to avoid a service charge of $10 a month, which they charged me. They said that this policy was in a previous monthly statement. I never saw it, and even if it was there, it was not obvious (for example, as it would be on a separate sheet of colored paper).
I was charged for two months. After I complained, one month's penalty was removed. I told the bank that I am closing the account and am in the process of doing so. They did not seem concerned about their loss of business or about keeping a long-term customer satisfied.
