I recently used Orbitz to book a trip for my wife's birthday, our vacation and our honeymoon. After booking, I checked my bank account to make sure everything went through. Our airfare went through, however the hotel and transportation did not. I contacted them and was told I would have to rebook the hotel and transportation again, as their system did not show any reservations for them. So I logged back on and rebooked just the room and transportation. Well, the charges went through, but I had to pay nearly $200.00 more because they said the original room I book was taken and the new room was different and cost more. We went on the trip and now a month later just out of the blue the charge for the room and transportation just showed up and was resubmitted to my bank. It got paid by my bank, since they figured I just booked another trip. But when I contcated Orbitz about it, the lady told me that Orbitz did not resubmit the charges and even provided a statement to take to the bank to that effect. I went to the bank and confronted them and they said Orbitz got paid and therefore Orbitz needed to do a refund. Well we called from the bank ansd spoke with several individuals and I found out all of a sudden I had 2 reservations for hotel and transportation and since I did not cancel according to THEIR policy, I would not get a full refund. Well, I am sure the hotel would have notified me at some point I had 2 booked reservations, but they never did. So either they get kick backs from Orbitz for screwing honest people or they had no idea about it. After 2 hours at the bank, after closing, Orbitz held their ground and their actions has caused my bank account to be drained and overdrafted over $1,000; with payments to others being declined, bank overdraft fees and other fees are building and they could care less. Well, I am headed to Small Claims Court and filing suit against them. And I hope they have the guts to show their face in court here in Texas were we are protected from predatory businesses like theirs. I will also seek Federal legal remedies and see how much I can take from their pockets. I will never, ever use ORBITZ for any of my tavel. My business will go to people that are honest and trustworthy, not crooks and swindlers.
