I booked a hotel room with Orbitz but later needed to cancel my reservation. I went to the front desk of the hotel (in Best Western Incheon, South Korea) and asked them if I could cancel my reservation with no charge. They said yes. So I assumed that I would not be charged for the room, since I canceled the reservation before my stay and did not stay in the room.
Anyway, you can guess what happened - I was charged for the room - $214!
I urge people who book with Orbitz to be very cautious. Orbitz is becoming more and more like Priceline - if you agree to a reservation with Orbitz, you'd better be prepared to pay for it. Cancellations are very difficult and, if my experience is any indication, you'll be charged for your room/hotel/car, even if you cancel your reservation and don't use the service.
