Spirit Airline took my luggage out of the Spirit Counter in Orlando, where I received my boarding passes for my family of four, and dumped them after I left the area. I was surprised with a $40.00 luggage fee charge which was never mentioned in either my reservation or confirmation documents or at the web site at the time of purchase. The new $10.00 fee per luggage was charged to everyone effective the date of my return from Orlando regardless of terms at time of purchase. Had I not boarded the flight and argued I would have lost my return flights too. I have been calling all day and I've been asked to check the lost and found of the airport itself. Spirit advises they no longer have the family luggages. I am over a thousand miles away now, what do I do?
I believe intentionally seperating a traveler from his luggage at an airport may also lead to a Homeland Security risk. I also believe a serious lawfirm would be interested in learning of the potencial caracteristic of a class action in this case. This is being done to all Spirit customers as of yesterday.
