Beware of Lost and Delayed Luggage with Spirit Ai

On Christmas Day, I travelled from Detroit to Guatemala city with one stopover in Ft. Lauterdale and my bag did not make it to Guatemala. We did not switch flights; we only got off the plane in Ft. Lauterdale for about 20 minutes and then got back on the same plane to go to Guatemala City. When I got to Guatemala, my bag never showed up.

The woman working at the airport in Guatemala told me that Spirit fills all their planes with cargo shipments first (assumingly to make more money) and then loads passenger luggage. During the holidays, they use up more cargo space so less room is left for passenger luggage. This causes lost and delayed luggage.

It is virtually impossible to get a hold of a representative from Spirit in person. I have had only poor customer service and no assistance from personnel at Spirit Air.

I am in the middle of travelling and now I don't have anything with me. I fly to Costa Rica tomorrow and there is nothing I can do and I have nothing to take with me.
It is worth the extra money to book with a reputable airline other than Spirit. I feel betrayed and taken advantage of. This is a terrible way to treat customers, especially over the holidays
