Bus broke down before arriving in Holbrook AZ and was 3 hours late. We arrived in Albuquerque NM where the bus was looked over by the mechanic. Greyhound "fixed" the problem and we continued on. 66 miles outside of Albuquerque the bus over-heated again and we were stranded for 4 1/2 hrs in the heat with no water. I am mechanically inclined so I offered to look at the engine. The fan belt had been ripped to shreds because of a locked up pulley. The pulley had no signs of work being done on it, no lube, no wrench marks, just completely frozen up. The mechanic at Albuquerque clearly missed the problem which is a very easy fix. (Also mentioned by the driver as a common issue) When the new bus arrived is was an americano bus that greyhound had at the Albuquerque location. The bus was a 44 passenger bus picking up 46 people so 2 people had to sit on the ground. (Illegal, I found out later, and dangerous.) There was not enough room on the new bus for luggage so I had to carry my checked bag in my lap for 3 hours while we continued on to Amarillo, Texas. When I got to Amarillo the front desk agents at that location said I missed my connection and the next bus was leaving in 9 hrs. So i got a room rather than sit in the hub that long. (40 bucks out of pocket 18 hrs of time added on to my 19 hour trip!) This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a major company, EVER. Now they are saying 6-8 weeks to even process my ticket for a refund. Unreal.
