Travelocity.com - Overcharged - Erroneous Booking - Rude Customer Service

This complaint is being filed against Travelocity due to the erroneous booking of a room. On 3/14 I booked a trip to Miami Beach for three and requested an ocean front room. During the booking process there were three room type options to choose from (standard, partial ocean view, and ocean front). I am 100% certain that I selected the ocean front room, as my selection resulted in a price increase from approximately $1,450 to $1,500. Upon receipt of my e-mail confirmation, my e-mail stated %u201CStandard one king or two double beds guest room bay and city view%u201D. I took %u201Cstandard%u201D to mean non-suite, and presumed that all was in order. On 3/18 I called the resort to ensure that a double room was booked for my trip, as I wanted to ensure there would be no surprises upon arrival to Miami. During this call, I also wanted to confirm that an ocean front room was reserved; this is when I was notified that I was only reserved for a standard room. I immediately called Travelocity and the representative insisted that I selected the standard room option. I then asked to speak to a manager. Upon recapping my concerns with the manager, the manager stated that she would contact their IT department to obtain a foot-print of the order, and someone would call me in 48 hours. I received a call on last evening telling me that Travelocity%u2019s findings are that I selected the standard room, and there is nothing that can be done. My certainty lies in that this trip was booked on an extremely tight budget, and as I was booking the trip, I was on a conference call with the other two travelers and read off verbatim the options and price differences. I read numerous times my selections, to ensure everyone was aligned with the prices. I am 100% certain i selected the ocean front room. After not receiving any compassion, or additional options, from Travelocity on last evening, I decided to end that call and call back to find out how much an upgrade would cost for my originally requested room; I was told $85. I refuse to pay an additional $85 for something I%u2019ve already paid $50 for, as a result of Travelocity%u2019s technical issues.

Although we are not speaking of a lot of money, it is solely a matter of principles. At this point, I will discontinue my travel needs with Travelocity as it is apparent that they cannot be trusted.
