I called the NEW Bensalem telephone number to discuss getting a membership at the NEW Bensalem gym since the Langhorne gym would be a total of a 20 mile drive to and from. I explained to the salesman that I did not want to work out at a gym where the staff are conveniently unavailable once they cash your membership check. I told him it was very important that someone train me on the equipment because I didn't want to injury myself trying to figure it out on my own.
He said that LA Fitness was not like that, and that personal attention is given to all new members until they are trained on how to use the equipment. He made me feel comfortable enough to give my credit card information over the telephone. I was sold when he told me that I would pay only the initiation fee, and would not have to pay a monthly fee until the NEW Bensalem gym opened in 5.
At the time of the telephone membership sign up, an appointment was scheduled for my 1st training session to take place at the Langhorne gym. I was eager to get started right away because I had only 3 days to cancel if the gym was not a perfect fit for me.
I never got a call back to confirm the appointment. I went to my appointment to find out that the salesman who signed me up was not at work that day. Another staff member indicated that he was too busy to show me around that gym, but that he would reschedule my appointment with my saleman the next day. I rescheduled, and this time I called ahead to confirm only to be told that that appointment slot is no longer available. They promised to have the salesperson return my call, but he never called.
I went to the NEW Bensalem location, which is basically a trailer, not a gym. They refused to help me. The receptionist even brought out a very large muscular intimidating man to try and well, intimidate me. I wanted no static and his mannerism let me know that this was not someone who was even remotely interested in rectifying things with a customer. I left without speaking to him at all.
In a nutshell this is my complaint. They promised to give me a tour and train me on the equipment. NEVER HAPPENED! I got brushed off so many times, and by the time I started losing faith, my 3 days to cancel was long gone! Now, they have probably put all kinds of negative marks on my credit report, they took my money and never even showed me a single piece of equipment let alone a tour of the gym itself! How foul is that? They promised the NEW Bensalem gym, which is closer to my home, would be opened by May 03. It's still a trailer where they just sign up new memberships. BULLETIN! A TRAILER WITH WHEELS DOES NOT A GYM MAKE!
I'm still getting letters about my delinquent payment. I'll pay you when you actually do something! Infact, I want you to give me full reimbursement of all the money you took off my credit card extra for the inconvenience you've caused me. I want my membership canceled, and an apology letter issued!
Bet you guys at LA Fitness in Langhorne and Bensalem PA wished you didn't brush me off, huh? Now, if nothing else, everyone who reads this complaint with know all about your practices.
