Targer check writing policy. - Vizio 40" TV and stand

I wanted to purchase a TV and stand. The total would have been over $350.00. Because I wanted to pay by check, I wrote the check for the exact amount only to have Target's system reject it. I was not told of their policy that a person had to have an established check writing pattern and was embarrassed when nothing could be done.
I was informed when I phoned the 800 number that I would have to write checks for under $100.00 in order for my checks to clear and establish a trend.
I write checks for big ticket Items only and prefer not to use a credit or debit card. So I suppose I can't shop Target for big ticket items. Seems like an anti-business policy.
