This company is unreal.
I have contacted AA today because of the hit on my credit report for a Pacific Bell account from 1198. I owed approx. $430 for the bill but approx. $450 in late fees or interest. I asked Anna for a copy of the bill so that I can verify the charges and she said that it would take 90 days to retrieve my old bill and in the mean time interest would still be accueing no matter what.
I don't live in California at all and haven't lived there in 6 years. I moved right to the east coast and was not even aware of this bill until now. I am more than willing to pay the bill that I owe once and if they ever send me a copy of the final bill, but the late/interest fee is what I have a problem with.
I don't know what to do to dispute this. Right now I am doing so much research online to figure this out and I won't stop until it's resolved. I have never heard in my life of the interest/late fee being more than the actual bill due. There has to be some statute of limitation on the accrual of interest for a past due utility bill.
