Best Western International Inc. "Low Price" Guarantee

I was denied the Best Western "Low Price" guarantee because the reservation I booked was a non-smoking room, and a lower priced smoking room was available on Bestwestern.com. The policy states "competing rate must be for the same hotel, dates, length of stay, currency, number of guests, and similar room type." I do not think that smoking and non-smoking rooms are considered similar room types, but this is not the view of Best Western customer care.

I called the Best Western Rewards number prior to booking at the higher priced bestwestern, com rate and was informed that in order to participate in the "Low Price" guarantee program that I needed to book at bestwestern.com and submit the claim. I therefore was misled by the false advertising of the "Low Price" guarantee, and made a higher priced reservation.

I carefully read the terms and conditions of the program. The terms and conditions are very misleading as they are silent on the issue of "similar room type." I have expressed my concerns, and will continue to have someone with some degree of understanding see that this is false advertising. NOT A GOOD POLICY FOR BEST WESTERN! I have respected Best Western in the past.
