National Moving Network - Ay Transport
National Moving Network / Ay Transport ripoff, dishonest, unprofessional, moving scam

We are also victims of the moving scam, we were given an estimate of $1791.00 by Eddie Subirats for his company to move us from San Diego, CA. To Cumming, GA. I gave a $500 credit card deposit and was told other than the $1291 due on delivery, there would be no other charges, after all he "over estimated the weight on alot of our items" and said we may even get money back.

On the day of the move, our stuff was supposed to be picked up between 12-2 and it would only take about 1 hour. Well after multiple calls to the moving company, which never returned our calls and naturally didn't answer the phone, at 5:45 a company called AY transport arrives to take our stuff, we had never been told someone else would be moving us. The movers spoke little English and had us sign the incomplete paperwork before they even started to load our stuff.

The 24ft truck they arrived in was over half full and they had to take some of the other persons stuff out to fit ours in. 3 hours later when they were finished cramming what they could fit of our stuff in the truck, we had to give away a 27 inch tv, 2 lamps, a vacuum cleaner, a wheel barrel, a lawn mower, a tow dolly, our 2 yr olds wagon and various other toys.
They didn't have room for our king size matress on the truck so they strapped it to the back, along with a mirror and an autographed Peter Max painting. They also left a bunch of moving boxes, a box of packing tape, wrapping paper, and a huge roll of bubble wrap - we had to get rid of these things before we left the next morning.
So 4 days later we get a call from Michelle at AY transport saying that our belongings didn't weigh 3100 lbs as quoted by Eddie but 5200 lbs and we were required to pay $3100. On delivery.

That's when we started doing some research and found out about the 110% law, if you want to call it a law, we also found out that this happens regularly through this company.

Well our stuff arrived and we tried to use the 110% law and we were told by Michelle at Ay that that had to be preapproved (I wasn't aware that laws had to be approved by AY transport)- so we called the local sheriff to enforce this law and they came to our home and told us they don't deal with this stuff it's a civil matter - they deal with barking dogs (no joke).
So we paid the money - cash or postal money order only - no paper trails - (they would cause them to have to pay taxes)- we had to have the credit card company Western Union them the money - we didn't have that cash because we thought that laws were enforced.

Our mattress was still wet and mildewed - it started pouring down rain about 15 minutes after the moving truck originally left our house in San Diego, and Ay transport was kind enough to wrap it in plastic wrap when it got to the warehouse to seal in the moisture. My husbands surfboard is broken on both ends, looks like they couldn't figure out which end to slam into the ground. Our signed Peter Max and the mirror never arrived, most of the stuff in a box marked FRAGILE - was naturally broken.

I am curious who should the claim go to (not really expecting anything to come of it) but wonder if National will tell me to call Ay, and Ay will tell me to call National - like they did about the increase in weight - Also found that after you get an inaccurate estimate from Eddie Subirats (hince the rats in his name)- you are not allowed to speak with him anymore - and boy do I have some choice words for him.

Unfortunately we were on a deadline to get to Georgia, if I had to do over again I would most definitely suck up the $500 deposit and send Ay transport packing when they arrived at my house in San Diego. I have learned a few things from this 1.) if you can't find them on the BBB website - they are not registered - don't use them, 2.) some laws are not really enforced, 3.) move yourself. It's more work but in the end it's worth the extra work.
