I feel that inadequate care was given because of a poor patient/nurse ratio. I also feel that there was inadequate communication between shifts. They have the philosophy of the choice of the patient is the guiding star that denies progress if the family would like to see it differently. They have conversations with the family agree then do their own thing. I was warned by family living close by that I needed to be careful in my requests or they took it out on the patient. Recently I visited with a friend who had a similar situation in another nursing home and said she had learned soon enough that she should not complain or they take it out on the patient who cannot fight back. This patient was put there by a doctor and not by the family yet even though I had secured a power of attorney to handle her affairs while in there they felt her well enough to support the handling of removing the power of attorney and did not inform me.
