About 18 months ago I purchased a 19 gallon Husky Air compressor from my local Home Depot Store. I normally use an air compressor for small tools and small jobs around the house. I paid 250.00 for this air compressor which was a relatively good price. The air compressor has only been used 10 to 15 hours since I purchased it and three weeks ago it quit working. I took it to a local authorized repair center for evaluation for repair and two weeks later they tell me it is beyond economic repair. The pump motor had failed and it would cost over 200.00 to repair.
I called Home Depot concerning the length of time I had use the product and asked if there were any type of warranty or assitance I could seek from them or the manufacturer. I was treated very harsh by the customer service person at the local Home Depot. She referred me to the manufacturer (which was the wrong one). Husky is manufactured by over a half dozen companies all over the world. I finally found it was manufactured by Powermate. After explaining the situation and asking for assistance from the company for the repair, I was told I got what I had paid for and if I had purchased a more expensive compressor maybe it would have worked longer.
I realize given the length of time from purchase to failure there was no hope of a warranty replacement of the entire compressor. However, I would expect given the amoount of time the product was used and how it was used they would stand behind their product and at least give me a discounted price for the part to fix it.instead I paid 250.00 for something I hardly got to use and Home Depot, Husky Tools, nor Powermate will ever see my business again. And by the attitude and anamosity I got for asking, I don't think any of these companies care.
