Scam! Scam! Criminals! I felt so helpless after dealing with this company. Their misrepresentation is criminal!
At the time we were contacted by this company it was because we were looking for an opportunity to lower our mortgage payment. We were struggling and it showed in our credit. We made plenty of money but needed a fresh start, never intending to lose our home.
The sales rep from Peoples First Financial told me "We can lower your mortgage payments due to legislation that President Bush had recently signed. The lenders were able to get their money cheaper and could pass that on to their customers, but we needed a company like theirs to mediate.".
I paid my $2995, signed their contact and provided them the requested financials to use on our behalf. At the time we were 60 days late on our mortgage. We could handle the mortgage now but were not sure how to catch up on the past due.
After they received their money they told me we needed to stop paying our mortgage to make the lender desperate enough to deal with them. I WAS SHOCKED! However we had paid them our mortgage money and wasn't sure where to turn, so we cooperated.
To make a long story short, our home went into foreclosure and would not even speak to Peoples First Financial. After many many phone calls demanding an update from Peoples, a rep finally called me and said I had three choices. 1. Pay 17K past due 2. Short Sale my home. 3. Walk away and lose my home.
I cried, pulled myself together and called my lender. I paid my lender $4800 and was consdiered current and back on track. Thank God I had a lender that understood there were scum out there taking advantage of people and provided a way to keep my home.
I requested a refund weeks ago and no response. I finally got nasty and someone called and told me I didn't qualify for a refund, they said there must have been a miscommunication in what they could do. MY LENDER WOULDN'T EVEN SPEAK WITH THEM!!! They are saying they can do things you can do on your own.
I reported to the Better Business Bureau and will look for legal representation for no other reason than to stop this company from harming others and causing the stress they caused my family under the pretence of help.
