I thought it was odd that they wanted a card # for a free credit report and I was especially careful after that to make sure that I was not signing up for some extra cost items. At some point I received an assurance that my card would not be charged.
Two monthly debits of $14.95 were taken from my account before I noticed it and called the company. A woman with a heavy accent answered and I told her I wanted a refund and didn't want any more money deducted from my account.
She informed me that I had signed up for credit monitoring and was not going to get a refund in accordance with their terms of service since I had not canceled in the first seven days. With her heavy accent I don't know if I even got the deductions stopped..
The whole conversation turned into a shouting match and she hung up on me after informing me that the company had not had any complaints in ten years.
