I had Dish for 18 months, although I signed up for a 12 month commitment they forced me into 18. Then I cancelled. They said ok, we owe you a refund of $42 and we will put it on your Visa. They also said I could keep or discard my equipment. Which I did, threw it away. I was moving and could not haul an extra box of stuff. A month or 2 went by and I received a $262 bill for unreturned equipment. I have called, written, and emailed Dish about this error and unfortunately for me I signed a contract at purchase that says I must return the equipment. Well why didn't the customer service rep tell me this? Why did she lie and say I don't have to return it? I contacted the BBB and they cannot help, now I am getting letters from collections. Sheesh. I would have gladly returned the equipment had I been told so. This is such a pain to have to deal with and I am so sick of Dish. I had planned to resubscribe with them when I needed tv service again, but now they can forget it!
