Changing a contract without me agreeing to it

I had signed a 2 year contract with sprint in Aug with 2 lines and wanted my line to be the primary line.in October my wife got a call from Sprint to remind me that the bill needed to be payed and i thought that they should be calling since I was the primary phone line so I called sprint to see what was going on with that they told me that they had not put me down as the primary and that they could change that for me and that would be no problem. Later down the road my bill was late again and again they contacted my wife to inform her that my bill was past due so I called them again and asked why are you calling my wife's phone and they replied that her # was the primary # so I told them that we had just went through that not to long ago and that sprint was supposed to switch that to make my # the primary and at that point they checked the notes and agreed with me and said that they would fix that and I said OK thank you. I was under the understanding that in one year I could get an upgrade on my phone so when i called to see about an upgrade they told me that I couldn't get an upgrade for another year and was confused because in one more year my contract would be up so why would i want an upgrade when my contract was ending??? Duh! And also it was at that point that they tried to tell me that my contract wasn't up till October and I asked how that came was when i had signed the contract in august and they told me that when I changed the primary # that made a new contract and I told them that I would have never agreed to that and that it was there fault in the first place for not putting the correct # as the primary # and after making my point for a half hour they decided to honer my contract back to the original date in august and keep in mind they never did make my # the primary # so now I'm in September and my contract was up in august I decided to look elsewhere for my wireless needs so I went and got another wireless provider and had my # ported from sprint. I called sprint to get my final bill and they told me it was 511.00 and I flipped and asked what was the bill so high for and they told me it was for early termination fees and they are telling me because i had the primary # changed it renewed the contract and that my contract was not over till October. So basically they are screwing me for $400.00 and I'm feel like there is nothing I can do
