United Moving System
Watch out! Cowardly Predators who Bait and Switch then Run and Hide with your $!

There are at least 7 other complaints against United Moving System on the web in the last year and a half. Before that, apparently, United Moving System was known by a different name, different license. It's very easy to get licensing for moving companies (maybe 3 weeks?). Fraud can have a field day with your personal belongings in this unregulated free for all kind of market.
I found out the hard way.

Not only did they: 1) Cost me thousands of dollars over their original estimate; 2) Failed to perform their specific written and verbal contractual obligation by not taking apart or reassembling any of my furniture (except one bed frame on pick up); 3) Failed to unload any of my goods except for the mattress upon delivery; 4) Failed to account for their use of materials; 5) Flagrantly wasted materials; 6) Did not allow me to inspect my goods after they were loaded; 7) Threatened to return my goods to New Jersey if I did not pay; 8) Failed to pack or unpack most of my goods (my wife and I did it) but charged me for their labor though "there are no labor charges"; 9) They crossed out my comments on paperwork; 10) Totally failed to return any of my calls once my check was received; 11) Gave me the phone numbers of two different drivers who claimed to have my goods; 12) Broke our box of dishes and misplaced our furniture; 13) Solicited us for a tip after the van was loaded; 14) Failed to provide promised "full insurance" but offered only at 60 cents per pound and refused my attempts to locate other insurance; 15) Arrived at pick up late with only one driver and one assistant; 16) Delivered our goods late; 17) etc. Etc. Etc. They also totally ruined our planned trip across the country, which was the whole purpose of using a 'moving company".

United Moving Systems was very careful and practiced about how they manipulated information.By compartmentalizing their information and their communications they are able to perpetrate intentional misrepresenations on their customers.

I particularly remember one morning in Nebraska waiting for their promised call, which of course hever came (because they would never, never return a call and would respond to my inquiries consistently as "I'm busy, I'll call you back, or, "%is busy, he'll call you back"). That morning 9 people had just died in Kansas a couple hunded miles south and we were driving through tornado warnings to get to a bank to wire United Moving Systems money. They had threatened to return our goods to New Jersey if we did not pay. (I had put a stop payment on my second check when they gave me he phone numbers of two different drivers who each swore they had our goods, and United Moving Systems refused to explain any of their breaches of contract nor refute them nor return calls)

But, even though I called their "legal department" (which I think is practicing law without a license, along with their many other specialties) to get their bank information to wire money to, they failed to return my call. The only happy ending so far is that we got most of our things, none of the electrical components, which could have been traced, were missing and none of our personally valuable but unmarketable keepsakes were missing.

Check out their other complaints (about 7 so far, I've found on the web, after hours of search) and check out their strange DOT information, especially the ratings on their drivers and their new insurance carrier. You might also, if you search diligently find reports that they used to operate as another name.

Even their name is a clue. If you look at their website their logo on their truck (not their real truck, I believe, as they only are listed as having two) is almost identical to the logo of United Van Lines which of course they are not.

I am permanently disabled. Their drivers knew it and the salesman knew it and they deliberately took advantage of me.

This is only a brief summary of the issues I will be resolving with them. Omission of other issues and details is only for the purpose of brevity.
