Atom Moving
Dishonest movers, damaged goods, fraud, poor customer service, rip-off

Atom Moving out of Boston is a fraudulent and dispicable moving company. STAY AWAY For all of the reasons listed below:

Poor customer service in the form of unreturned phone calls, lack of concrete information about the status of my belongings and general unprofessional rudeness.
An arrival date that was 2 weeks later than verbal agreement, 3 days later than contractual agreement. (I was offered $40 a day off my final price for their tardiness. It was explained to me that this amount would cover a hotel room. I asked what I was supposed to do about food expenses and they said they did not cover that. I further asserted that there was no place to stay for $40 a night in any city in America.)

They arrived in an 18 wheeler and could not park it and anywhere on my street. They said they needed to go get a smaller truck and that I would have to pay $300 for this. I argued that this was not in my contract, they said that it was listed under "extraneous circumstances". (I had to pay the extra $300.)

Upon return with the smaller truck they expected payment up front. I refused and said I wanted the service to be rendered before I paid for the service. The company claimed that this was their policy, but I pointed out that it was not listed explicitly anywhere in the contract. They maintained that it was and told me that if I did not pay up front, they would take my belongings to a storage facility and I could pay for them to be stored until I felt like paying for them to be delivered.

After paying up front, they proceeded to bring my things into my apartment, at which point I noticed that many of my things were water logged. They claimed this was from the rainfall we had had while they transferred the items from the big truck to the small truck, but the amount of water damage present was clearly the result of things being exposed to water for an extended period of time. I could tell this from the mold that had grown on some of my furniture, from the boxes that were so damaged they were falling apart and warped, and also from the boxes that were completely dry, but had wet items inside. These boxes were not boxes I packed, and had obviously been repacked, presumably because the originals were so wet that they had fallen apart.
