Relocation with Atom Moving from MA to CO was an absolute nightmare. The 2 movers in CO (a father and son) were unprofessional, topless, & smoking, leaving stamped out cigarette ends all around the premises. A box & a suitcase were lost, and various items were broken or damaged, e.G. Cordless phone, tv, tv stand, desk, ornaments, storage containers, bookcase, floor fan etc etc. No "disassembly & reassemly" of items as promised. We still have furniture and sports equipment lying in bits. When we asked one mover to reassemble a weights bench he said he couldn't because it would "take him all day". Another mover was seen throwing boxes clearly marked 'fragile' from the truck onto the ground.
We had one large plastic storage container packed with clothes. This was smashed, and the folded clothes were thrown in our garbage can. They loaded 7 bags of our dog food onto their truck in MA. They did not arrive in CO. Our mover in CO said this was because they could not transport food items. We were not told this at any time before, & this was not stated on their website / terms. If this was the case, the movers in MA should not have taken it from our home. Atom Moving charge by weight. Our mover in CO said we were charged for moving the dog food, even though it did not arrive. The bags weighed 20 lbs each (at 0.55c per lb = $77). And they cost $20 each = another $140.
After numerous calls to Atom Moving we were eventually handed over to a third party insurance company who asked us to provide photos, weight and purchase dates of all broken / lost items so we could be reimbursed at 0.60c per lb. So if they break a tv that cost $1000 and weighs 100 lb they reimburse you $60? I will never, ever use one of these companies again.
Moving estimate: $2340.80, actual cost: over $3000
