Nationwide Relocation Services
Moving Ripoff moving services

I located these guys on the web by googling for moving quotes. I hit what seems to be a pretty legit site that offers multiple quotes from different movers. I wen twith these guys, Nationwide, as they seemed to do a lot of state to state relocations for a reasonable price. As I went through the process, they seemed reasonable prefessional and have a pretty sophisticated interactive web site etc..

I started to get suspicious when their scheduler, Sean, called last week and reestimated my move and insisted on an additonal deposit based on all the goods that I had not included in my original list (I mean, how can a few tools, a grill and a couple of other items add 1500 lbs to my load?) Regardlsee, the contract stated that I would only be billed on actual weight and I was 5 days out from my move date.

I got even more suspicious when it was two days from my move date and had not had confirmation of pickup time from the carrier. Sure enough, my move day came (and I HAD to move as it was the closing date on the house) and no truck had arrived. I phoned their dispatch number and got a particulary rude young lady who actually did give me the number for the local mover. I phonde th elocal mover and of sourse no answer. Now I was really worried.

Surprisingly, the local mover, Countrywide, did actually call me back but only to tell me 'the truck wasn't in town yet' and that she would have to get back to me. I told her that this was completely unacceptable as I had to move today!!! It was now closing in on mid-day. So... I google Countrywdie and, sure enough, found a bunch of complaints on this site.

What else was I going to do? I phone nationwide and told them i was cancelling the move and arrangin for another company. And also to tell them based on the stuff I read here, there was no way I was going to let them move my stuff.

OK... Stressful enough given I have to close on my house and get everything out of here. But here's the kicker, my 'estimator' (Harryman, what a name) phones me and leaves a snotty voice mail about how 'I am not allowed to cancel the move becasue I signed a contract and I was goign to lose my deposit. Blah, blah, blah. Isn't it funny how the true scumbuckets alwasy are the first to wave your 'commitment' in front of your face even when they have totally reneged on their part of the bargain.

Anyway, based on the other complaints I have read I feel very fortunate that I figured these guys out before they took and kept my furniture (read the other complaints on these guys).

I just wish we spend a fraction of the money we spend trying to fix things in Iraq and Afganistan to track down scum like these guys and put them away. There is nothing sleazier than a moving scam when people are already stressed and committed to a move.

NEVER ever consider doing business with these people.
