Horrible Service, lots of dropped calls, bad equipment, no decent service help ripoff waste of time

About one year ago my husband and I decided to get the family plan through Verizon with 250 anytime mins. And 1500 nights & weekends. (what a nightmare this soon became)

We had purchased the phones knowing that they had nation wide long distance and planned to use these phones as our home phones.

For one thing I can't make calls from inside my house nor can I hold a call for more than five minutes without getting cut off.

When I called to complain about this I was told that the problem would be looked into and someone would get back to me shortly.
Several days later someone did call back to say that the problem is that we are in a low area and to close to the river to get good reception, I live in the city of Elgin and it isn't as though I live in the middle of the woods somewhere.

When I asked what would be done to fix this problem they told me that they have been working on getting a tower in this area. That was a year ago and now I have had to change my minutes several times because I can't hold calls so I am constantly calling people back to explain that I did not hang up on them.
I get charged for all of the one minute (can't connect) calls that wont go through because of thier problems and now I get bills over $200.00 for going over my minutes because I can't hold a call or make them.

When I call to see if someone can help fix these problems the only solution they have is to offer me a new package for more money. What started out to be a $50.00 phone bill has turned into a steady $80.00 - $100.00 bill over the last several months which has put us in a bad position trying to come up with the money every month.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, I am on my third phone because the phones that we purchased the first time were defective and the one that they replaced it with just stopped working all together. Boy was that a hassle to get replaced.
The person Verizon sent me to wanted to send me to another store 25 miles away because he said he did not have that particular phone in stock. (again, not my problem) I had to explain to him that I already have had enough run arounds with this company and I could not be without a phone because I have 3 small children in school and that this phone is my house phone. After arguing with this man for 20 minutes he finally offered me a newer model of the phone that quit working.

No one should have this many problems with any contract they sign for a service. I cannot get out of this contract without paying them $350.00 for the phones but yet they can't seem to provide me with reasonable service. And had they told me that the phones would not work in my home or in the Elgin area I would have never signed a 2 year contract which by the way every time I have had to change my minute plans I have to sign on for 2 years from the date of the new change. At this rate I will never be able to get rid of these phones.
