's Rebate RipOff Scam ripoff, fruad, misleading advertising, bait and switch

On January 17 I bought two E-Machine PC computer packages for our office from Best Buy in Anchorage. I was wary of Best Buy rebate policies - I got burned before by not following the fine print to the letter. I checked the ad, the instore display, made sure that the sales staff knew I was buying because of the rebate, collected my rebate forms, filled them out perfectly, and got them off the same day.

I got RIPPED anyway! Only one rebate per household. Strange that this was never mentioned in the ad, or in store, or by the sales staff (even though I expressly stated that I was expecting rebates on both machines). I was given two sets of rebate forms (why would they give two sets if you can only receive one rebate?). As others have stated, there, in the fine print AFTER you've made the purchase, is the "one to a household" Best Buy rip-off "out clause"!!

I'm not taking this lying down - I contacted the rebate center, filed a complaint, wrote to Best Buy customer relations (they obviously have only carnal relations with customers) and, after hearing the "company line" a few times, I've decided to sue them in Small Claims Court for my rebate. Hopefully, even if I loose, it'll cost them lots more than it would have cost by being honest in the first place!

Judging by the number of people burned by Best Buy's deceptive rebate practices, it would seem like class action material to me.
