I went to a Mobile Solutions store in Tucson to get a new cell phone. I informed the salesman that I am in the military and not from Arizona but from Seattle Washington and travel back and forth a lot. I told him I needed a phone with no roaming or long distance.
He told me to get a cingular phone from them and I would get no roaming on my phone. I took his word for it (he failed to inform me that there was a local and national plan. The national plan has no roaming, the local does.) Anyways I ended up getting the phone because of the supposed fact there was no roaming.
A couple months later I got sent TDY (temporary duty assignment) to Shreveport, Louisanna for a month. Me and my wife talked together everyday on the phone. I came home to a $2,448 cell phone bill. Almost all of this was, you guessed it, ROAMING! I immediately went to the manager of the store where I bought the phone from. He looked at the bill and said, "Oh, that wasn't supposed to happen."
He called cingular and sent up a billing change form. I called customer care and was informed the roaming charges would be tooken off if I switched to national plan. So I did and was informed I would be called within 72 hours to be told if I was to be approved. A week or so later I called back because they didnt call me. This has been going on for 4 months now. No one calls me back. I keep calling and customer care keeps resubmitting the forms to change my bill and then I get promised they will call me back but I never get a call from them.
I paid my minutes used and my normal bill but I will not pay these roaming charges. So in closing: the store signed me up on the wrong plan, customer care promises and nothing happens, the higher up who have to approve the credit for around 2500 dollars wont do it because I'm young and in the military and they think they can pick on me and that I'll just take it.
