I switched in 2003 to Cingular after 2 years with Sprint.
I got a phone which was not hackable according to them.
After about a month or so, I received a shocking 1000.00
cell phone bill.in the history of having a cellphone
I know my usage tops out at about 150.00.
At the time I was in school from 9-3pm and worked as a
bartender from 4:30-close. None of which I can have a cell
phone on me or on property. I called in December of
and no avail, this went on for months previous October/ November. Finally in December a gentleman at Cingular fraud, named Quame sat there and scrutinized this enourmous bill to find a pattern of calls that were not recognized by me. 3-4 numbers kept appearing on the bill in volumes! He put me on hold to call the numbers and it led to disconnected or non-existant numbers (hacker covering tracks? I think yes)
He admittedly was baffled, and PROMISED to adjust my bill
to delete these mystery calls on my phone and maintain my service. The adjustment never came, I could never speak with this person again and no one would cooperate they chanted over and over like some sick pre written mantra-"M'am this phone is not duplicable, so therefore you must have made these calls!"
The next letter I received was from a collection agency and then another and another till this day that they are attempting to extort 700-800 dollars from me. My credit is RUINED the 1000.00 are on all 3 bureaus and no collection agency wants to work with me on getting the bill adjusted, I have nooo service and that was that. If there is anyone out there with a solution, I want to hear it-I am on Virgin prepaid and it is a rip off too!
