Well here goes a story which has turned out rather sad for me but I suppose could have been a lot worse.
I recently became an Excel independent rep. About 2 months ago. One of the first things I was encouraged to do was sign up myself as a customer to get my two BTNs (billable telephone #s). Well, as I had been with Sprint PCS for my mobile service for a very long time I hadn't had a contract in effect in over a year.
First, I decided to change my landline service as that was the easiest to change. Within minutes of the changeover I had no dialtone and remained without service for almost five days. I was livid and finally got service again and Excel blamed SBC for why it took so long.
After a week of constant service I changed my cellular over to Excel (ironically they use Sprint for a carrier). The new phone came in and I called to activate and thought all was well until I attempted to recharge the phone and I discovered that not only was there something wrong with either the ac charger or the phone the car charger also did not work.
So I called Excel to resolve and they proposed that it was probably the phone and let's wait on the car charger but they would be charging for both the first and second phones until I returned the first phone so I'm like well, okay what choice do I have.
I received the 2nd phone four days later. The second phone charged on the ac adapter but the car recharger still didn't work. So I call Excel again and get another return authorization for the car charger (now keep in mind that the car charger came as a kit with a handsfree setup and a case for the phone) All pieces whether working or not had to be returned.
So now I'm thinking well I'll just hang onto the whole package to be returned (1st phone and accessory kit) until the new accessory kit arrives. Three days later, new accessory kit and it's car charger doesn't work either.
Here is the kicker. About this time I lose landline service again&no dialtone and I'm out of a phone for another five days so I sit on the whole thing because now I'm down to a cellphone that only picks up a halfway decent signal in the middle of my front yard. How this is possible when it was the same Sprint service is beyond me unless it could be that my damaged Sprint phone worked better than my new-reconditioned phone from Excel.
After this I'm really wondering what I have done to deserve all this headache, especially since I'm representing this company.
I have also at this point gotten several upline people involved to attempt to get my landline service back on faster... Lol. All the while trying to think of how not only was I going to grow this telecommunications home-based company for myself but how bizzare this situation had become.
Well the final resolution has been cast and what I now have is no real company to represent not that I want to anymore. VarTec and subsideries have now declared themselves insolvent and are attempting to reorganize as of last week. What a surprise!
So now I have a cellphone that doesn't work as well as the Sprint one I had plus a contract that I can't cancel without a penalty when before I had no contract. Plus $399.00 out the window for a business that doesn't exist.
Now my upline is recommending going to Shaklee with more money out and after reviewing their product lines and costs... I think I'll just pass. I suppose my message here is pay attention and if it gets too hard then it's probably a sign to re-evaluate your options. I'm not a quitter and you might say that I tend to hang on past time to make a change but this whole experience has opened my eyes a lot.
