Tonight, we attempted to rent a DVD at Hollywood Video in Newark, DE as we do quite often. We were quite surprised when we were told that we owed late fees on movies that were supposedly not turned in on time. The clerk stated that the movies had not been returned until Thursday afternoon when we had actually returned it Wednesday evening. We had actually handed the movie directly to a clerk to ensure that it would be checked in. When we talked to the manager in charge, she (Dawn) was completely unwilling to listen and waive the fee despite the fact that we have had this account since 1998 without a late fee EVER. Rather than wasting my time writing to store managers, district managers, and fighting for $4.00 (which I should not have to do anyway), I will simply not rent there again. BE WARNED that this is not a lone case. There is actually a class action lawsuit against Hollywood on this. Avoid having this happen to you and do not rent from Hollywood Video.
