Hollywood video store in union city georgia will charge you late fee for videos returned before the due date. It happen to me in march i went to rent a movie and was told that i owe for a video that was returned late.
I challenged it because it was the second time it happen. I was not sure the first time it happened so i paid. Even though i was pretty sure i turned it in. What i found out is some times when the employees check a movie in, the scanner does not always accurately shows the movie as returned, the employee does not check to make sure it's checked in properly and the movie in back on the shelf.
When someone else rents it and it shows as not returned the store will find it check it in, but it will be late on your account. The individual who checks it in have no idea that you turned in the movie early so he or she keys or scan it and it will be late and charges will apply.
Because of the neglect of the employees to properly check to make sure movies returned are registered as returned in the computer it will cost you the customer who if have a bad memory and thinks well " i must have been late" pays the fine. Most don't challenge this and the video store makes millions of dollars from innocent customers who from lack of memory believe they were late.
When you challenge them it you against their computer and they believe their computer is perfect and the customers is never right. So customer be careful get a reciept and watch to make sure they check in the movie at the store and the computer shows that it has been returned on time and make them sign also and date the reciept on the return or you might be in for a late fee payment.
