I am SOOOOO pissed right now. The carpet people came and installed it. I am happy with that. But I knew that damn sales rep was shady and if I had had time to get someone else, I would have. I have been in sales for years and know their tricks! Let me mention first off, I am disabled and in a wheelchair, was here by myself, and couldn't measure on my own. He told me a concrete wheelchair ramp that goes up onto a SMALL level of flooring—big enough for a refrigerator was 70sq. Ft. Which I knew sounded high for that little area. I SHOULD have MADE my dad measure when he got home from work, but he was very tired and I thought surely he wouldn't like about something that could so blatantly be proved different. It was roughly $3.87 per/sq. Ft. (which I talked him down from nearly $5 [almost $400 for this TINY space]—he called his supervisor and supposedly got it lowered. I went with them because they were running a free installation promo) and after they installed, the guy comes in and says "you have extra carpet, do you want to keep it?" I said "sure, might as well since I paid for it." He brings in this HUGE roll of carpet! Says, "where do you want me to put it?" I was shocked, "ummmm leave it out front."
Well Dad comes home right about that time as they left. I was like, "look at all this extra carpet!" So, dad measures, well that area... Even accounting for some extra is 35 sq. Ft! The sales rep doubled it! So I called in to their main line and they are going to have a sales manager call me Monday. Dad called the rep, Daniel, and was obviously mad. He says, "you charged my daughter for double the carpet!" He tried telling dad that I could only buy the carpet by the roll... BULL S*! Dad says, "So you are telling me that if I had a small childs room done for example and it came up 3ft short, I'd have to buy a whole roll of carpet to finish it? I DON'T THINK SO!" Supposedly the guy, Daniel, was going to call dad back in 30mins. Never did. I WILL be talking to a supervisor on Monday and demanding my money back. It should have cost me roughly $135 vs. $280! They have an A rating with BBB, but a lot of complaints over 100, that I suppose were all resolved. I don't want the damn extra carpet, which doesn't even have padding with it. He totally ripped me off, and I swear took advantage of #1 me being a female, obviously alone at the time... And #2 being disabled and knowing I couldn't measure myself.
This was all done through EMPIRE TODAY... So forewarning on their sales people!
