Last year we were planning on changing our carpets and went to Home Depot. They asked us to put down a $50 deposit and told us it could be returned if we decided not to go with the Home Depot quote. They came and did the measurements, and in the end we did not change the carpets. We then went to ask for the refund, and they said no!
We told them that we had just had a major renovation (remodeling project) with them and that the least they could do was honor what we were told, that the deposit can be returned. This is the type of thing that makes a customer not be loyal to a company. Seriously, $50 versus a project of 20K plus, and they would not give back the deposit? This just does not make any sense.
