I have read many, many of the entries to this site and need to add my own. Over the Txsgiving holiday, could not access my e-mail account. Took my computer to Office Depot, they pulled up a Yahoo contact # for me 1-888-307-9126. I called and immediately began speaking to someone with a foreign accent. He told me my e-mail account had been hacked and unfortunately, I gave him remote control of my computer so that he could assist in rectifying the problem. Once he had control, he also told me that I had several virus infections. I was, admittedly, very distressed as most of my job consists of working on my computer at home. Long story short, he did assist me in setting up a new e-mail account, etc. At the tune of $199.95 assuring me that I would also have 1 year of on-line tech support. After doing this, I felt very, very uneasy and began going on line to "check them out." I then took my computer into a reputable service company and had them do a complete scan. I updated my anti-virus protection (was told it was working fine). I changed the PW to my e-mail address. I cancelled my debit card and also plan to file a dispute claim for the $199.95 with my bank. Since this happened, I e-mailed them once with an inquiry; no response! So much for 24/7 service! I still feel very uncomfortable knowing that I gave them access to my computer, but to date, it appears to be okay. There's got to be some legal contacts we can make to get "these crooks, " yes? Please let me know. And why isn't Yahoo notifying its customers about this?
