I had a call from this company saying that they were representing Microsoft and that my computer was running slowly because of viruses or problems with the spyware... And that because the computer was old the software license had expired. I have very good antivirus, Trend Micro but they said that was not enough, they would install a better one and check the computer, they said it had been hacked... I paid my $199 supposedly for a 1 year period... Then they proceeded to call me regularly saying that they would check the computer, was it OK etc... Mostly I would answer that it was OK, it was running better because I deleted some files etc. Last night I had a call from one of their people, he told me they were going out of business and that they would refund the $199... We proceeded to open a Western Union account in my name... Then went ahead with a transaction, supposedly my refund, but then I discovered that there were 2 amounts of $414 debited from my credit card account... By now I am smelling a rat. They were going to call me the following day and check that I had received the refund... I did get a call but I was not home so I told them to call me later... I feel silly for being taken in like this! Has anyone else had a similar experience?
