Received call from tech support identifying themselves as Microsoft Tech service. Said they had been monitoring my computer and that it was ready to crash unless they helped me clean up some files. Since I do have a contract with Microsoft Tech I said I wanted their help. After they did some things on my computer remotely they said all was well. Three days later they called to say that there was a glitch in the software so would have to remove it. If I would go to Western Union and deposit $150.00 to "create an account" within 24 hours Western Union would deliver a refund check for the initial cost plus the $150.00. Suspecting they had scammed me I called Western Union who said they did not need an account established for me to receive the refund and they did not deliver.

I called my bank and they said that if I could get a letter from Microsoft that this was fraud they would credit back the initial amount. Microsoft refused to do this.

Since then I have filed a request with my bank on a "computer repair" charge for $99.00 that I have no knowledge of authorizing.

I will ask the bank to issue a new charge card when they call me with the results of their research.

Every day I get at least one phone call from telephone numbers that I do not recognize and have placed caller ID on my phone so that I don't answer those calls.
