Jeff Kostecki and Total Home Improvements to lay laminate flooring in my home. I pre-purchased all of the materials he needed for his guys to get started. First off, he didn't recall that he had to do prep work by pulling up our carpet and pad and pulling the staples from whomever layed the carpet in the first place. Secondly, there were low spots in the floor that he didn't know about because he didn't measure the level of the floor! WHen I and the installers said the floor needed leveler, he took the guys outside and told them to make due with what they had at the house to level the floor and to put a piece of cardboard under the flooring. Carboard!!! A material the will flatten over time. Moreover, he took all but $300 of the total cost of the job, which was my fault for giving him, but he is supposed to be the 'expert', not me. If he says that the flooring will settleand tighten up, I believed him. His installers called me on a SUNDAY morning and said that he was threatening them with non payment if they didn't slap a 5 day flooring job in 3 days, they said that they could not do that to me and my family, we have two small children. They said that Jeff had not payed them what they were owed, they were coming to get their tools, and that if Jeff was allowed to finish the floors, with the low spots and bad joints, the flooring would buckle within a few days. I called Jeff to get him over to the house to talk to me and the installers and he refused, he said he couldn't get there. Personally if it was me, and someone was slandering my name as well as my business practices, I woul dget there in a heartbeat, but whatever. I let him know that I was told that the floor would buckle if the floor was not leveled properly, and reminded him that I even asked if the floor needed the leveler that was recommended by his installers. He had no answer. He admitted to two different versions of owing his people money, once saying that he owed them only $50 a piece and then in another conversation had minutes later, admitted that he owes them a full days wage each! He in fact had only paid them 1 full day of pay for 3.5 days work, which I witnessed this one and only payment. He said that he would be there to meet me at 9:30am Monday morning and when 9:45 rolled around, he said he would be another 15 minutes. 11:30am rolled around and by this time, of course he was not there at my house, he was not answering any of my phone calls or texts, and he then shut his phone off. I have not recieved any communication from him in any form. I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and have gotten the paprwork to file a civil complaint against him an his company. Please please please do not hire jeff kostecki and total home repairs!!! You are far better off getting your home repairs froma person who works for a business with a store front.
